Privacy & Cookies Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information, and how we use cookies on this website.

Last updated: 2 July 2026

This policy explains how the practice of Dr Rory McQuillan (Consultant Nephrologist and General Physician) (“we”, “us”, “the practice”) collects and uses your personal information when you visit drrorymcquillan.ie or contact us through this website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your information in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Dr Rory McQuillan. If you have any question about this policy or about how your information is handled, you can contact the practice at rory.mcquillan@healthmail.ie or by phone on 01 206 4209.

What information we collect

When you use the contact form on this website, we collect the information you provide:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • your phone number (if you provide it); and
  • the content of your message.

We also collect limited, anonymised website-usage data through analytics cookies, but only if you consent to them (see Cookies below). We do not ask for, and request that you do not send, sensitive medical details through the website contact form.

How we use your information and our legal basis

We use the information you submit through the contact form solely to respond to your enquiry and to direct it to the appropriate next step within the practice. Our legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services, and, where relevant, taking steps at your request prior to entering into a care arrangement.

Please note that appointments are arranged by GP referral. The website contact form is not a channel for urgent medical concerns; for anything urgent please contact your GP, or call 112 or 999 in an emergency.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us operate the website and respond to you:

  • Vercel hosts this website and runs the form-handling function, so every submission passes through it in transit; limited diagnostic logs may briefly contain enquiry details if a delivery problem occurs;
  • Postmark (a transactional email provider) delivers the enquiry from the website form to the practice and sends your confirmation email; and
  • Google Analytics processes anonymised usage statistics, but only where you have given consent.

These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data-processing terms. Some may process data outside the European Economic Area under safeguards permitted by the GDPR.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence only for as long as is necessary to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records, after which it is securely deleted. Analytics data is retained in line with our analytics provider’s standard retention settings.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. This website uses only two categories of cookie:

  • Strictly necessary — a single preference that remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every visit. This is always active and requires no consent.
  • Analytics (optional) — Google Analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is used. These are only set after you select Accept on the cookie banner, and IP addresses are anonymised. If you select Decline, no analytics cookies are set.

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time by clearing this site’s cookies and stored site data in your browser, which will cause the banner to appear again on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased in certain circumstances;
  • restrict or object to our processing of your data; and
  • data portability, where applicable.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at rory.mcquillan@healthmail.ie. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
